Business Development Specialist

Summary

We are seeking a full time Business Development Specialist to work in our San Francisco office. The person will be part of a cross-functional team tasked with researching, discovering, developing, and expanding business initiatives aligned with the AIED’s strategic objectives. This team will focus on the development of our WeBoard Program. The candidate should be a generalist with a demonstrable strength in at least one functional area (e.g., educational consulting, sales, marketing, operations, etc.).

About AIED and WeBoard:

American International Education Development Council is an educational organization headquartered in New York City. Recently we opened a local office in San Francisco. AIED is dedicated to to advance the development of international education initiatives, enable students to engage in intercultural learning, facilitate the sharing and exchange of educational resources around the world, and help American institutions connect and build relationships with education-related foreign entities.

WeBoard Program is developed and conducted by AIED. WeBoard provides services and assistance to foreign students who study and live in the U.S., mainly in grade 6-12. WeBoard helps the international students to cope with studying and education, make living arrangements, and consult on post-secondary education and career planning.

WeBoard services include housing accommodation in our local International House, home-stay placement, transportation service, food service, academic support, extracurricular activities arrangement, college counseling and career support. We also communicate effectively and efficiently with the parents to ensure a supporting community surrounding the students.


Primary Responsibilities:

• Communicates and cultivates new relations with private and public secondary schools

• Attacks the business development process and generates leads by conducting cold phone calls, cold emails and meeting in person

• Sustains business relations with existing partner schools through Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

• Manages the initial operations of WeBoard and functions as the liaison between the company and the school/district

• Participates in the co-creation of projects development and improvement

• Demonstrates value as a team player and works toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, and long-term business success in line with AIED’s vision and values

• Implements agreed upon team plan which meets both personal and organization goals

• Reports the development efforts and accomplishments using measurable quantitative metrics


Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree (Master’s or above strongly preferred)

• Demonstrable skills in one of four areas: educational consulting, sales, marketing and operations

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an educational or business setting, or equivalent experience

• Result driven self-starter, with a high level of focus

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Analytical, organizational, time-management skills and multi-tasking skills

• Ability to work within a team environment or individually as requirements change

• Resilient to unexpected setbacks; able to adapt to frequent shifts in priorities

• High energy and willingness to travel nationally and internationally

• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese preferred

• Established network of connections with secondary schools preferred
