AIED opens office in Beijing

To further its mission in international education development, AIED opens its representative office in Beijing in September 2012. The representative office will undertake the role of maintaining and strengthening relationships with schools in China. It will also provide support to the AIED headquarters on global education programs, forums and conferences held in Mainland China.

AIED Vice President & Program Director Chuck Yang will supervise the operation of the Beijing representative office. The chief representative is Mr. Wei Chen. Mr. Chen has more than 10 years of management and leadership experience in the education services industry in China. Before joining AIED as the chief representative, Mr. Chen worked as team leader at New Oriental Education & Technology Group (NYSE: EDU) and as regional manager at Ambow Education Holding Ltd. (NYSE: AMBO)

The Chinese representative office in Beijing will work closely with staff members in AIED headquarters to further international education collaboration. Some main functions of the representative office include:

• Form relationships with Chinese educational institutions and organizations to allow students from around the world to experience intercultural learning;

• Help U.S.-based and Chinese educational institutions establish connections and partnerships with each other to share educational resources, create exchange student programs, design multicultural initiatives, and foster other educational collaboration;

• Facilitate trainings, such as language or other useful tools, that will enable students to be successful in an intercultural learning environment;

• Provide necessary assistance to foreign students and teachers coming to China on AIED programs, to help them cope with studying, living and career planning in China;

• Facilitate the formation of international education alliance(s), expand AIED school networks in China.
