AIED Council Visits Soundview Preparatory School

Yorktown Heights, NY - AIED Council Vice President Chuck Yang and VP Assistant Frederica Li visited Soundview Preparatory School in Yorktown Heights, NYon December 7th. It was Mr. Yang’s second visit to the school. Mr. Yang and Ms. Li met with Head of School Mr. W. Glyn Hearn, Assistant Head and Director of Admissions Ms. Mary Ivanyi, andparents of the host families for the CESILE program Mrs. Lisa Josephberg and Mrs. Margaret Friedrich.


Soundview Preparatory School was founded in 1989. It is an independent, coed day school for grades 6-12, which has enrolledaround80 students.Soundviewprovides students withgreat care, rigorous academic programs and sense of community. It enables students to grow in an atmosphere that emphasizeson building up self-esteem, individual responsibility, ethical values, and solid relationships with peers and faculty.

Mr. Yang and Ms. Li talked to Mr. Hearn and Ms. Ivanyi about the logistics of the CESILE program, including student information, program schedule, school arrangement, and host family assignment. Afterwards, Mr. Yang and Ms. Li discussed with Mrs. Josephberg and Mrs. Friedrich about the details of the program. The conversation enabled AIED Council and the host families to get a better understanding of each other. At the end of the visit, Mr. Yang and Ms. Li took a tour around the exquisitely and uniquely designed building in which students have classes daily and senior leaders of school work.
